The garden that Paolo Portoghesi, renowned architect and architectural historian, has created since 1990 with his wife Giovanna Massobrio is located on the plateau in view of the valley of Treja and the village of Calcata, jutting out on a tuff spur. There are symbols and memories that summarize the life experience and culture of its creators. The garden is eccentric compared to the house, built where space allowed and the relationship with the landscape more intense and direct. To climb to the garden a double staircase in tuff frames, between the shimmer of lemon trees, a large egg, symbol of life and its cosmic renewal, and guides the perspective to the upper floor from which several paths depart. The egg is the work of Costantino Morosin, an artist linked to Calcata and its territory.
