On the occasion of the «Rendez-vous aux jardins 2024», go in search of edible, medicinal and toxic wild plants, which can be found at the beginning of summer in the castle park, on the meadow and wood side. Discover also plants almost unknown or disappeared like the tussilages and garlic of the vines.
Note:
Between two courses scheduled for Sunday, June 2, you can attend a conference at 15h of about an hour. We will tell you about the underground of the castle, which can be visited during the course, and the region. A fortified house was built at that time in this land of border between Champagne and Sénonais by the Leventés family. It was a fortress with several ditches and an observation tower. The masonry ditches appeared in the late 15th century. They have an average depth of 6 metres and a width of 10 metres, facing sandstone. They are dry moats.
In 1363, the village was called Plessis-Messsire-Guillaume after the knight who owned the place. Named Guillaume from father to son, there is still a portrait of Guillaume, of the Plessis family, canon, in a stained glass window of the cathedral of Sens. The seigneury was passed in 1504 to Pierre de Choiseul. His son was called lord of Praslin under Francis I. The old castle was demolished in the Renaissance and then replaced by a more elegant and comfortable castle. There are currently remains of a round tower and two wells.
