Created in 1982, the Musée du Nouveau Monde illustrates the relations between France, and in particular La Rochelle, and the Americas since the 16th century. The city was one of the main ports of trade and emigration to the New World: New France, Antilles...
Paintings, drawings, engravings, old maps, decorative art objects and photographs evoking Brazil, Canada or Louisiana are displayed in these magnificent rock and neo-classical spaces. Temporary exhibitions and contemporary creations also find their place thanks to a dynamic scientific and cultural policy and anxious to preserve the original and original coherence of the museum.
