It is maintained by an association of enthusiasts, «Heritage and Memory of the Castle of Meximieux». It contains more than 120 medicinal, aromatic, condimentary and dyeing plants. They were chosen following the Capitular De Villis. It is a place of biodiversity and sharing. It includes medicinal plants, inspired by the monastic tradition and adapted to the contemporary era. The association «Patrimoine et Mémoire du Château de Meximieux» has made some improvements by adding guardrails on the stairs and a pond welcoming koi carp. One of the objectives of the association is to make it accessible to all, all year round.
