Inauguration of the exhibition "Herbier Bleu" by Aline Héau
Exhibition
From June 1 to November 3 An exhibition of the cyanotypes of Aline Héau
The herbarium is a classic theme for the cyanotype process: the best known, which is also the first book using photography, is the Herbarium of the Seas by Anna Atkins in the years 1840-1850.
With Aline Héau, the process applied to glass finds a whole new dimension. The finesse of the details that this support allows sublime the most common plant or weeds and grasses yet so precious. This type of photography combines the precision of science with artistic aesthetics. The magic of a sensitive medium or of the wonderful scientist.
The blue herbaria of Aline Héau are made in photogram, that is to say that the plant - simple bud, leaf, flower or seed - is delicately placed on the photosensitized surface. The exposure of the plant to natural or artificial light draws in negative the slightest cell of the living. The transparency of the deep blue casts a shadow at the density of the color, while the prints on silver background reflect a bright light in the dark flat blue.
Between elegance and simplicity, discover the vegetal poems of a garden and a natural territory that is no less remarkable.
