Anciennes Écuries du musée du Domaine départemental de Sceaux
8 avenue Claude-Perrault 92330 Sceaux
- Hauts-de-Seine
- Île-de-France
Located in the heart of the former estate of Jean-Baptiste Colbert, Minister of Finance under Louis XIV, the Musée du Domaine départemental de Sceaux enjoys an exceptional setting. The Castle, built under the Second Empire in place of that of Colbert, houses the permanent collections of the museum. It is dedicated to the history of its owners and the Domaine de Sceaux. Precious testimonies of the Grand Siècle, the outbuildings of the Château - the Pavillon de l'Aurore, decorated with a dome painted by Charles Le Brun, and the Orangerie, built by Jules Hardouin-Mansart -, are part of a park of more than 180 hectares designed by André Le Nôtre. The Ancienne Écuries, recently renovated, hosts a shop, an educational workshop and, generally, temporary exhibitions.
