About the location

Parc de Champagne
10 avenue du Général Giraud, 51100 Reims, Marne, Grand Est
  • Marne
  • Grand Est
In 1907, Melchior de Polignac, grandson of the widow Pommery, entrusted Rémois Édouard Redont with the creation of a 22-hectare park for the staff of the famous champagne house. The park has been open for 3 years, when in 1913, Georges Hébert, founder of a «natural» method to train athletes, installed there the first College of Athletes. Destroyed by the war, the site was restored in 1922\. Renamed Parc de Champagne in 2004, the site is now managed by the city of Reims. In 2013, a garden of Simples was added to the picturesque composition. Some of its plants, such as the plantain, the earthly ivy, the pulmonary, … are considered weeds despite their virtues. Changing the way plants are looked at, learning to recognize and use them, are among the objectives of this garden.
