About the location

Jardin méditerranéen
Place de l'Église, 34460 Roquebrun, France

Located on the terraces overlooking the Orb, benefiting from a unique microclimate in this region, this private garden of 3.5 ha created in 1986 participates in the fame of the village called «Le Nice de l'Hérault», the cultivation of mimosas in open ground. Dominated by an old watchtower dating from the Carolingian era, the garden extends over several centuries-old terraces, exposed due south and delimited by dolomitic organs, capturing the heat during the day and restoring it at night. The Cade project (Collectif Agricole pour le Développement et l'Environnement) offers favourable conditions for the development of a flora inferior to dry and arid climates. The plant heritage is divided into several botanical sectors: exotic plants, Mediterranean, succulent, collection of mimosas, orchard of Mediterranean fruit varieties, garrigue (cistus, pyrophilous plants), pinewood where goats walk. The garden received the prestigious «Remarkable Garden» label in 2020.
