Discovery tour of the Creole garden of Pli Bel Lari in Pointe-à-Pitre
Set on a plot in the heart of the old centre of Pointe-à-Pitre, the PLI BEL JADEN garden occupies an abandoned space that had turned into an open landfill. The association Atelier ODYSSEE in partnership with the inhabitants of the neighborhood, cleaned and created instead a shared garden.
Several abandoned spaces (abandoned houses, urban wastelands, etc.) have been transformed into gardens, including a 250 m2 vegetable garden in which different varieties of crops have been planted (vegetables, fruits, flowers, medicinal and aromatic plants, etc.). The maintenance of this plot is managed by the members of the association PLI BEL LARI, who invite the inhabitants of the neighborhood to come and regularly harvest the production of the garden.
This place is dedicated to gardening and the transmission of knowledge in particular towards the youngest but it is also a meeting place, of conviviality and exchange between the inhabitants of the neighborhood of all ages as well as visitors who come from everywhere to discover this very special place.
PLI BEL JADEN , participates in the return of nature in the city, the creation of places of freshness, the improvement of the living environment of the inhabitants and the revaluation of the image of a priority neighborhood. This garden is also a place to raise public awareness of the challenges of the 21st century (global warming, energy, food, etc.).
We invite you to visit it: a completely unexpected and surprising space in an area of the old centre of Pointe-à-Pitre.
