Free visit to Gonzalez Park
This garden of about 4,000 m² is dedicated solely to the Australian flora. Indeed, more than 500 rare species from all regions of Australia live happily together.
Created in 2003, the walls, walkways, paving floors and rock, are made of the country’s stone and bring it an additional unit that completely connects it to the village.
To preserve this natural space, and to make it cultivable 1000 m3 of topsoil have been brought, as well as blocks of stones of the country (Gneiss de Bormes) deposited in terrace, in riprap, in walls and in Cyclopean paving. Drystone walls have been added to existing curbs to mimic their hardiness. In order to harmonize the mineral, the sand of the aisles was recovered in the bed of our river (The Battle). Watering is automated micro-irrigation (drip-by-drip), it saves and optimizes water quantities according to the needs of the plants. The situation of this park being burning, a natural and local mulch made from crushed cork oak bark covers the entire surface of the park to limit the evaporation of water, the emergence of weeds, and the settling of the soil.
