Verger conservatoire de la figue
Les terrasses du château 30360 Vézénobres
The fig is the emblematic fruit of the medieval city of Vézénobres. In 2000, the municipality hosts on a plot of 2 ha the duplication of a part of the collection of fig trees of the National Botanical Conservatory of Porquerolles in the Var. A collection of nearly a thousand trees with just under 100 varieties. Single or biferous, the fig tree belongs to the moraceae family and there are several thousand varieties in the world. Here, the varieties, some very rare from Syria or Spain, are practically all suitable for drying, ideally located under the medieval city, exposed to the great sun. A unique scenographic work has been realized in the House of the fig and offers educational and playful contents to discover the history of the fig in Vézénobres.
