Les Sablons, history of a district
The Tourism and Heritage department and the inhabitants invite you to discover the different districts of the city and their architecture. During this quarter, the Sablons district is in the spotlight, following the inventory mission conducted by the Pays de la Loire region since 2019 on serial housing in Le Mans.
Created in the 1960s on former flood-prone land on the eastern outskirts of the city, the Sablons district was built from scratch under the hand of one of the greatest French urban planners of the 20th century, Pierre Vago.
An exhibition, a focus and a film are presented at the Chapiteau, in the heart of the Sablons district until October 15. Then from 18 October to 17 December at the Maison du Pilier-Rouge (Cité Plantagenêt)
