In the rural plains of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, until recently, all the inevitable seemed to be at work: ghost villages and exodus of young people, economic exhaustion and closure of schools. Mayors are worried, but their resources are so limited that the most determined among them must deploy a lot of commitment and inventiveness to meet the crying needs of the inhabitants.
Housing and urban planning condition our way of life, our relationships, our impact on living things: starting from this observation, the film goes to meet citizens as builders, but also representatives of public authorities, to gather the solutions they are already working to bring about on the so singular lands of the southwest.
In response to the unprecedented housing crisis that it is experiencing, architects and collectives defending living people and the right to housing are working alongside mayors and residents, defending the idea of the common and campaigning for the rehabilitation of a heritage whose uses need to be rethought."
