The Court of Tales Festival: "Amacharou"

My father, a flute player, works on an assembly line on Île Seguin, but he no longer has any goats to call! My mother is sad in her small kitchen with its blue, white, and red doilies. Thus unfolds the thread of the tale woven from stories of exile, featuring Prince Ali who wanted to discover the world, the ogress Madame Titous and her daughter Irid, no bigger than a grain of wheat, and the village grocer. A plunge into one of those oral cultures that still shapes the collective imagination today.

Mon père, joueur de flûte, travaille à la chaîne dans l’île Seguin, mais il n’a plus aucune chèvre à appeler ! Ma mère est triste dans sa petite cuisine aux napperons bleu-blanc-rouge. Ainsi se déroule le fil du conte tissé de récits d’exil avec Le Prince Ali qui voulait découvrir le monde, l’ogresse Madame Titous et sa fille Irid, pas plus gros qu’un grain de blé et l’épicier du village. Une plongée dans une de ces cultures de la parole qui construit, encore aujourd’hui, l’imaginaire collectif.
