About the location

Mémorial 14-18 Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, Centre d'histoire
102 Rue Pasteur 62153 Souchez
  • Pas-de-Calais
  • Hauts-de-France
Three unique sites to understand the First World War in Nord Pas-de-Calais and pay tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives for peace. Follow in the footsteps of their stories and our history to better understand the present.
The History Center:
At the foot of the hill of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, the Centre d'Histoire designed by Pierre-Louis Faloci traces the Great War in the territory of the Nord et du Pas-de-Calais through a selection of objects, films and several hundred photographs. A true gateway to the Memorial, his visit offers a game of perspectives between regional specificities and global conflict.
The National Necropolis of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette: The basilica and the lantern tower of the largest French necropolis watch over more than 42,000 French soldiers who died during the Great War on the front of Artois and French and Belgian Flanders. On the spot, the Guards of Honour welcome the public and keep the memory of the soldiers who died for France.
