“Our fantastic monsters and animals at the museum!”
Exhibition of the work done in 2022 – 2023 by the students of the elementary schools Blossières and Charpak (Troyes), Luyères, Jean Monnet (Saint-Germain), as well as the colleges of Jacobins (Troyes), Othe and Vanne (Aix-Villemaur-Palis), Nicolas Bourbon (Vendeuvre sur Barse), Le Noyer Marchand (Romilly sur Seine), Paul Portier (Bar-sur-Seine), Pierre Brossolette (La Chapelle-Saint-Luc), de la Voie Châtelaine (Arcis-sur-Aube).
A Globalised Artistic Project called «PAG» allows to federate around a partner cultural structure the classes of different institutions. Meetings between students and artists, associated from the beginning to the project, are the highlights of learning knowledge to discover an artistic practice. Throughout the year, classes visit the museum around an established theme, meet artists and participate with them in several creative workshops whose achievements are exhibited and presented to the public.
Echoing the collections of Troy museums, whether it be Egyptian antiquity, the medieval bestiary, the fine arts or the museum’s naturalised specimens, this «monstrous» theme is of great cultural richness. Combining artistic disciplines and mediums or visions of the theme, through mythology or natural history, this PAG has allowed more than 300 students to discover a heritage from an original angle, which finds echoes in today’s popular culture. These multiple approaches and references were the basis of the projects led by the three associated artists. Thus, at the rate of 12h/ class, the visual artists Anne Moret, Noémie Carvalho and Apolline Pliez conducted these workshops by building projects in close relationship with teachers and students-creators.
Exhibition presented until 26 June The museums of the City of Troyes are exceptionally free on Saturday 13 May from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm and during the Night of Museums from 8pm to midnight. Detailed program: www.musees-troyes.com
