For the 16th consecutive year, the Museums of the City of Troyes (Saint-Loup Museum, Apothecary of the Hotel-Dieu, Vauluisant Museum, Museum of Modern Art) are reinventing themselves through this cultural, playful, educational and popular event! Since 2008, the Museums of the City of Troyes (Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology, Museum of Natural History, Museum of Champagne Art, Museum of Hosiery, Apothecary of the Hotel-Dieu-Le-Comte and Museum of Modern Art) imagine a unique night around a specific theme. After dances, travels, curiosities, animals and many other themes, the 2023 edition celebrates the festival.
“Saturday Night Party!” The Troy theme of this Nocturne sets the tone for a proper celebration of this European event, carried by the Ministry of Culture. This year, the four municipal museums of Troyes are all open again for the first time since 2018, and the event will be an opportunity to celebrate in particular the reopenings of the Apothecary and the Museum of Modern Art.
In the great kingdoms, it served to exalt power and impress neighboring rulers. In the industrial era, it brings together the workers of large companies and their families in joyful demonstrations (also sometimes supposed to exalt the generosity of the boss…). From the Belle Époque, the festival is also in the heart of Paris – city of light, from Montmartre to Montparnasse, at the tables of the Black Cat and the Moulin de la Galette, where artists have painted and drawn modernity. With the collections of the museums of Troyes, relive the atmosphere of the balls of the Renaissance, the grandiose feasts of the Palace of Versailles or more modestly the popular feasts of the hosiery or the guinguettes of the banks of Marne.
The 19th edition of the European Night of Museums explores the world of the Festival through the essential elements that make up any evening worthy of the name: dance, music and dress-code. After 3 years of health crisis and global upheavals, "Saturday Night Party!" will be an opportunity for artists and visitors to live the night as before. To discover, dance, laugh, admire, meet, share, love, live, simply!
So, this Saturday, May 13, dear visitors, take out your most beautiful clothes of light!
The museums of the City of Troyes are exceptionally free on Saturday 13 May from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm and during the Night of Museums from 8pm to midnight. Detailed program: www.musees-troyes.com

The Hotel de Vauluisant presents the collections of Champagne art of the Renaissance, known as the Beau 16th century, as well as the collections of the hosiery. The Beautiful 16th century: Painted panels, statues and stained glass windows illustrate the subtle passage from the aesthetics of the Gothic to its apogee, to that, emerging and more precious of the Renaissance. The painting reflects the Italian and Nordic influences (Assumption of the Virgin, Saint Joseph’s Dream). In sculpture, all the trends of the century are represented: Master of Chaource, Jacques Juliot, Dominique Florentin and François Gentil. The stained glass window shines with its last lights with the works of Linard Gontier (didactic exhibition). La Bonneterie: Evocation of the most emblematic activity of Troyes, European city of knitwear. Ancestral know-how and textile creation. From the wooden looms to the sophisticated machines of the “Golden Age” of the 19th and 20th centuries. Knitted items: stockings, socks,
