The castle of Champs-sur-Marne is characteristic of the houses of pleasure built in the countryside, allowing to escape the heaviness of the court. It was built around 1703 by architects Pierre Bullet and Jean-Baptiste Bullet de Chamblain, at the request of Louis XIV’s financier, Paul Poisson de Bourvallais. The castle has sumptuous rocaille decorations, chinoiseries painted by Christophe Huet in 1740, a magnificent furniture signed by the great names of the cabinetmaking of the Enlightenment. Its 85 ha park, designed around 1710 by Desgot, pupil and nephew of Le Nôtre, was restored in 1895 by Henri and Achille Duchêne. Classically inspired, set in an English-style landscaped park, it is now a pleasant place to stroll between Nature and Heritage. The castle welcomed illustrious tenants: the princess of Conti in 1718, legitimated daughter of Louis XIV; the duke of La Vallière; his son, Louis César de La Baume Le Blanc, receives there from 1739 to 1763 the great of the court and the Ency
