Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness, the Soweto-born septet better known as BCUC, channel a heady fusion of indigenous funk, politically charged hip-hop and punk rock energy into a trance that is as hedonistic as it is defiant. Formed out of jam sessions in a shipping container, the group have since stormed major international stages, earning the WOMEX Artist Award in 2023. Delivering incendiary live performances, BCUC give a contemporary voice to ancestral traditions, exploring the realities of the unheard alongside the spiritual richness of African cultures with raw, psychedelic force.
