African Vibes

Thomas Dobler and Etienne M'Bappé are two internationally renowned soloists. They invite the public to a concert explained through different styles of music: world music, jazz, classical music among others.

Let's talk about an instrument: the vibraphone. A relatively recent instrument, the vibraphone has its ancestors in Africa in the form of various balafons (percussion instruments). But the vibraphone that we know today was invented in the 1920s in the context of expressionism. The vibraphone was most famous during the "Swing" period. Subsequently, numerous innovations have advanced and developed the history of this instrument, which is now part of all musical styles.
