Flash visits zoom in on a theme in the exhibition. A flash to grasp current questions and issues concerning MEG's collections linked to the colonial era. Totem poles: memories and heritage This tour traces the memories and heritage of two totem poles now housed at MEG.
The two poles were carved by Sm'oogyit Niishluut, a native of Metlakatla in Alaska and representative of the Ts'msyen aboriginal people. Witnesses to a past generation that had to adapt to colonial policies that prohibited many aspects of Ts'msyen culture, these totem poles are of great importance today for Niishluut's family and the entire community.
Access to the temporary exhibition is free in 2024.
