The records played during this DJ Set come from the Marco Botta collection, acquired by MEG in 2011. The collection comprises almost 5,000 LPs, most of which date from the 1960s and 70s and have been released on a multitude of labels around the world. The artists are invited to come and dig through our collections a few hours before their set.

Luca Mazzaferri's disco-groove-funk-soukous-influenced DJ Set, carefully selected from his best MEG finds, promises a fusion of bewitching sounds and driving rhythms. Having done his civilian service in MEG's ethnomusicology department, he will take us on a tour of the nuggets unearthed in the International Popular Music Archives for an hour in the museum's gardens. Prepare to be transported into a world of lively rhythms, drawn from the 5,000 LPs in the collection assembled by Marco Botta, a discerning and passionate music lover, and preserved at the Museum. This exceptional collection presents an exhaustive panorama of popular music from all five continents. To highlight the acquisition of these discographic treasures, MEG is inviting artists to share a few selected tracks with the public over the course of an evening.

With a wide range of influences, from jazz to funk and disco, Luca's choice has mainly been popular music that reflects a mix of influences, both hyper-local and rich in international influences. Luca is also a member of the psych-groove group L'Osmose, where he plays vocals and synths. He also shares his musical discoveries at Bongo Joe Records, as a record dealer and barman. L'Osmose is also preparing to unveil its debut album in April under the banner of Geneva-based label Stone Pixel Records.
