"Sampling the world" is a new series of musical events, the fruit of a partnership between the MEG and the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation, and presented during the Nuit des Bains.
For each edition, the MEG welcomes musician Arthur Henry, who presents his sound portraits of different cities around the world where he has spent time. Placing his microphones in the streets, he captures the sounds of the cities and cuts out the sonic trace of everything he encounters, from dustbins to trams, pigeons and, of course, the city dwellers themselves. Arthur Henry's presentation of his sound collages is followed by a listening session of sound archives selected by Madeleine Leclair, Curator of the Ethnomusicology Department .
For the occasion, the Museum will remain open until 8:30pm
