Poster World
A remarkable graphic object, omnipresent in our daily lives, the poster must capture attention and convey a message in a short space of time. It combines numerous visual components, and a multitude of elements determine its impact: colors, compositional lines, presence of objects and shapes, typography, text position, contrasts. Based on a large selection of Geneva posters from the Library's collection, Poster World uses artificial intelligence to perform a metadata analysis and generate triptychs of posters based on formal similarities, revealing on screen a graphic richness that is difficult to perceive and that can be recomposed at will.
Curation: Jean-Charles Giroud, historian and former head of the Bibliothèque de Genève's poster collection
