MEGAFOLK #2 | Sibusile Xaba. Sankofa: "Looking Back to Move Forward"
The MEG and the Archipel Festival are delighted to invite Sibusile Xaba, a troubadour guitarist and a key figure in the revival of South African maskandi. Rooted in Zulu music, the deceptive simplicity of this style evokes the blues, drawing inspiration from everyday experiences and their ancestral connections. Dreamlike and magical, Sibusile Xaba's voice carries an unmistakable political message, affirming his deep connection to the world. His music remains true to the fundamental principles of his predecessors, enriched with his own mythology and a uniquely intense improvisational approach.
This event continues the MEGAFOLK series at MEG, dedicated to the sonic journey—its traditions and transformations. Each concert is followed by a conversation with the artist, exploring their practice and the cultural context of their work.
