Instrumental encounters #2: Liam ó Maonlai and traditional irish music
The instrumental encounters are the result of a collaboration between the Ateliers d'ethnomusicologie (ADEM) and the MEG. During this musical moment, musicians present their instruments and the repertoire.
Liam ó Maonlai is one of the most talented and charismatic performers of traditional Irish music. His musical commitment goes far beyond his own cultural roots, as he also develops an eclectic style consisting of folk, blues, gospel, soul, rock, and more. The richness of his memorable voice is magnified by his instrumental mastery: piano, Irish flute, harmonica and bodhran (traditional Irish drum). His band Hothouse Flowers is acclaimed in twenty countries and is considered by Rolling Stones magazine as one of the greatest European independent bands.
Next meeting will be in May 2023.
