DJ-set "The awakening of the sound archives" by DJ EasyEvil
The revival of the sound archives is back with an extra subtlety this year: the presence of the public! An incredible opportunity to come and listen to vinyl records in the MEG temporary exhibition.
The recent acquisition of two series of LPs (33 t. vinyl records), from the Samuel Baud-Bovy ethnomusicological collection and a transfer from the Musicology Library of the UniGe, has made it possible to create a set of about 400 hundred duplicate records in the MEG sound archives. In addition, about ten years ago, the MEG received a monumental collection of more than 5000 LPs, released on a multitude of labels around the world, the majority of which date from the 1960s-70s. This collection was put together by Marco Botta, an avid music lover. It includes a series of original records in mint condition that have never been heard before! This exceptional collection presents an exhaustive panorama of the world of popular music, from all five continents. To highlight the acquisition of these discographic treasures, the MEG invites artists to share a few selected pieces with the public for an evening.
Artist: DJ EasyEvil
During the rebellions that separated the celestial legions, EasyEvil, along with a third of the "stars of heaven", went astray under the leadership of Satan. Grand Duke of the Eastern part of Hell, he is the resident DJ at the 6th Circle of Hades parties. Around the year 2000 he braved the guardians of the Abyss. Since then, EasyEvil has been dancing with the spirits of the earth who give him his life force. He preaches in his weekly radio show La Face B on Couleur 3. Antipodes rare grooves, jazz, funk, psych, afro, soviet, latin... A journey around the planet of forgotten, unusual and often rare music from the second half of the 20th century. To exorcise EasyEvil, you have to be firm and call it by its name.
