Using old paper, come and create your own herbarium "à la Rousseau" at our Outreach Centre and share it with your loved ones – just as Jean-Jacques Rousseau did with his herbaria.
Our facilitators will explain the scientific and technical details of this delicate process, and you can choose which dried plants and flowers you would like to include on your sheet from a variety of options.
This activity, inspired by our exhibition "Nature never deceives us": Jean-Jacques Rousseau's herbarium from the Geneva Botanic Garden, will allow you to familiarise yourself with the process of assembling a herbarium specimen and the scientific naming of a plant, and to leave with a beautiful object.

Venez composer à notre Espace Médiation votre propre planche d’herbier « à la Rousseau » sur du vieux papier afin de la partager – comme le faisait Jean-Jacques Rousseau avec ses herbiers, avec vos proches.
Nos médiateurs et médiatrices vous expliqueront les détails scientifiques et techniques en lien avec ce délicat processus et vous pourrez choisir, parmi différentes plantes et fleurs séchées, celle que vous souhaitez monter sur une planche.
Cette activité, inspirée par notre exposition « Jamais la nature ne nous trompe » : l’herbier de Jean-Jacques Rousseau du Jardin botanique de Genève » vous permettra de vous familiariser avec le montage d’une planche d’herbier et la nomination scientifique d’une plante, et de repartir avec un bel objet.
