BASKETRY WORKSHOP 2 & 3: Assemble, weave: experiment basketry at the Museum
Experimenting with basketry and plants that grow near you? These workshops offer the opportunity to discover plants that are suitable for the creation of basketry objects and to learn a manufacturing technique by observing and being inspired by a selection of objects from the MEG collections.
Weaving, assembling or knotting plant fibers, basketry has been practiced for thousands of years in many parts of the world. The skills that have been passed down from generation to generation are present in art and crafts in various forms. Inspired by the shapes and techniques observed on a selection of objects from the MEG collections, these workshops invite you to create your own basketry object and to experiment with different techniques and materials.
Speakers:
Nathan Willerval, visual artist. In his artistic work, he approaches weaving in an instinctive way.
