Located in the heart of the historic district of Old Lille, the Hospice Comtesse, a former medieval hospital founded in 1237 by the Countess Jeanne de Flandre, is an emblematic heritage of the city of Lille. It has been home to the city’s art and history museum since 1962.
The size of its volumes and its characteristic architecture of the places of care embody more than 750 years of hospitality and generosity. Paintings, photographs, ceramics, musical instruments,... the Museum of the Hospice Comtesse has many objects of art and history, ranging from the sixteenth century to the twentieth century.
