Scolimpiades: a day dedicated to the awareness and screening of scoliosis
Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10am to 5pm, the Halle Canteleu will host the new edition of Scolimpiades, dedicated to the awareness and screening of scoliosis in children. Organized in collaboration with the Maison de la Scoliose, the CPTS de la Marque, the WHO and the City, this initiative aims to inform families and detect this common deformation of the spine.
A crucial screening for your child
Throughout the day, specialist doctors from the House of Scoliosis will ensure continuous screening. To facilitate the examination, children are advised to wear a sports bra. If scoliosis is detected, management guidelines will be offered to families, with detailed information on treatments and care available.
Workshops and activities for all
The Scolimpiades is not only screening, it is also a day of exchange and discovery, with many animations and fun activities:
- Breath workshop: a space dedicated to breathing and relaxation.
- Scoliogame: an interactive game to better understand scoliosis.
- Discovery of the corset: to demystify this medical device often necessary in the treatment of scoliosis.
- Sports workshops: many activities will be offered, such as HIIT (high intensity training) and trampoline sessions.
A highlight: the flashmob
At 1:45pm, all participants are invited to join a large flashmob. The choreography will be sent upstream to the registrants, enough to prepare and have fun together during this friendly and dynamic moment. Just after, at 14:00, an Info Point will be organized for families and the media, to answer all questions about scoliosis and upcoming awareness actions.
A family and sports day
Children who will participate in the screening will leave with a small souvenir gift, and it is recommended to come in sports clothes to fully enjoy the animations and sports workshops. Info and registration on www.scolimpiades.org
