The Little Suite was commissioned from Witold Lutoslawski by Warsaw Radio in 1950. The composer takes up Polish folk melodies to make incredible orchestral textures. Nothing sad in this Tombeau de Couperin imagined by Ravel in 1920. The composer pays homage here to the great musician of the 18th century, François Couperin. A work all in refinement «à la française» and nostalgia. In 1829, Felix Mendelssohn visited Scotland. The wild landscapes of the Highlands will inspire his Third Symphony . Sometimes dreamy and nostalgic, the work adopts at other times a heroic and fiery character.

La Petite Suite a été commandée à Witold Lutoslawski par la Radio de Varsovie en 1950. Le compositeur reprend des mélodies folkloriques polonaises pour en faire des textures orchestrales inouïes. Rien de triste dans ce Tombeau de Couperin imaginé par Ravel en 1920. Le compositeur rend ici hommage au grand musicien du 18e Siècle François Couperin. Une œuvre tout en raffinement « à la française » et en nostalgie. En 1829, Felix Mendelssohn visite l’Écosse. Les paysages sauvages des Highlands vont lui inspirer sa Troisième Symphonie . Parfois rêveuse et nostalgique, l’œuvre adopte à d’autres moments un caractère héroïque et fougueux.

De kleine suite werd in 1950 door Warschau Radio in opdracht van Witold Lutoslawski gegeven. De componist hervat Poolse volksmelodieën om ongehoorde orkesttexturen te maken. Niets droevig aan dit graf van Couperin dat Ravel in 1920 voorstelde. De componist brengt hulde aan de grote muzikant van de 18e eeuw François Couperin. Een werk met "Franse" verfijning en nostalgie. In 1829 bezocht Felix Mendelssohn Schotland. De wilde landschappen van de Hooglanden inspireerden zijn derde Symfonie. Soms dromerig en nostalgisch, neemt het werk op andere momenten een heldhaftig en vurig karakter aan.
