Les recommencements - Vivianne Perelmuter, Isabelle Ingold

A film by Vivianne Perelmuter and Isabelle Ingold (2026) 1h 31m
Al Moon, a Vietnam War veteran, lives alone on his tribe’s lands in Northern California. As violence and environmental destruction ravage the reserve, old fears resurface, prompting Al to set out on a journey to confront what haunts him and reunite with the men of his battalion. Each encounter along the way reveals a divided country, grappling with its own wounds — a disturbing reflection of his inner turmoil. Old demons resurface like ghosts… Facing the truth is the toughest of trials.

In just a few years, under the Trump era, America has seen some of its most fundamental freedoms undermined and called into question. The country has become fractured and polarised, to the point where neighbours, foreigners or those who think differently are viewed as adversaries. Through this programme, we have sought to take an unflinching look at this ailing America.
