Built at the end of the XIVth century on the edges of the Loire, this castle which knew how to keep(guard) its imposing medieval speed(look). It was the house of Maximilian de Béthune, more known as duke de Sully, famous Secretary of Henry IV. The castle knew profound upheavals in the XXth century. In 1900-1902, the owner of a manor makes rebuild the summits of the tours(towers,ballots) of the donjon, but only the oriental(eastern) towers are finished(ended). In 1918, a terrible fire destroys the wing built in the XVIIIth century. She(It) will be rebuilt shortly after, with a level in less, without being done up indoors. The castle undergoes some deterioration during the Second World War. The gallery connecting(binding) the tower of artillery with the small castle is strongly restored after war. In 1962, the castle and its park are acquired(bought back) by the Department of Loiret to the family of Béthune-Sully. Important works of restoration(catering) are then led. More recently, the burnt wing made the object of a complete refitting(reorganisation), continued by an active politics(policy) of furniture.
