Michel Degand- photo : Sébastien Fovelle

Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm , discover the exhibition «Michel Degand: Du fond de ma mémoire…» at the Flers Castle Museum.
A tribute to Michel Degand, the emblematic artist from Villeneuve d'Ascq and the North who died in 2021, the exhibition is an invitation to discover his personal universe.
A universe marked by a constant desire for renewal and a desire to highlight the territory of northern France and its inhabitants.
Through several techniques such as tapestry, painting and collage, the colorful works of Michel Degand complement the museum of the castle of Flers, its red bricks and vaults.
Exhibition visible until January 16, 2024.

About the location

Chateau de Flers
Chemin du Chat Botté 59650 Villeneuve d'Ascq
  • Nord
Small castle built in the middle of the seventeenth century (date inscribed on the facade: 1661), it experienced some modernisations in the eighteenth century before being transformed into a farm after the Revolution. It represents the Flemish Baroque style, with its gables in «pas-de-moineaux» and its decorations of stones of Lezennes in relief on the brick, in particular on the arcades of the court. It now houses the Tourist Office and the Culture Department of the City. In its cellars, a museum presents temporary exhibitions with modern and interactive scenography, on very varied themes that range from archaeology to local history and also evoke art, science or architecture.
