Odette Pauvert. Painting for ambition in the time of Art Deco.
Unjustly forgotten, Odette Pauvert (1903-1966) experienced a meteoric rise in the Roaring Twenties. In 1925, she was the first woman to win the Grand Prix de Rome in painting, a supreme consecration for any artist destined for an official career. This exhibition follows the singular itinerary of an artist who, from Paris to Rome via Spain or Greece, pursues throughout her career a resolutely classical and decorative ambition.
Organized with exceptional loans from the Beaux-Arts de Paris, the Villa Médicis in Rome and in relation to the artist’s family, this retrospective is for La Piscine the mark of a strong commitment to celebrate women artists. It is organized as part of Fiesta, the 7th edition of lille3000.
An exhibition to discover from October 11, 2025 to January 11, 2026.

Odette Pauvert.
