Cinema I 143 rue du désert
Production year**: 2019 Director: Hassen Ferhani** Film duration: 1h40
In the middle of the Algerian desert, in her relay, a woman writes her History. It welcomes, for a cigarette, a coffee or eggs, truckers, wandering beings and dreams… Her name is Malika. "Yesterday, a slaughterhouse opened a world in the heart of Algiers (Dans ma tête un rond-point, 2015). Today, the owner of a small shop in the middle of the Sahara offers a haven of peace, if not an oasis, as the sand fades to the colors of this documentary western. Behind closed doors, an observation post or a theatre stage: Ferhani’s talent is clearly fertile and never seems to be satisfied, always ready, on the contrary, to welcome the unexpected." (Antoine Thirion - Locarno Festival)
