Porte antique de Mars

The door of ancient march of Reims, one of the most important vestiges of the city Gallo-Roman de Durocortorum is in reality a triumphal arch which presents several singularity with regard to(compared with) the similar monuments of the same time(period) in Roman world: - he(it) is from a distance the biggest(greatest): more than thirty metres long, for a height which had to exceed(overtake) widely 15 metres with missing superstructures.
* He(It) joins a set(group) framing(supervising) the city centre: a second bow(arc) still exists in the state of ruins (hits Bazée, street of the university). The third is probable (Cérès) and the fourth possible (in front of theatre) hits. This realisation is exceptional in Roman town planning.
* He(It) carries abundant one decoration the head teacher(main clause) of which, under the central vault, is of irrefutably local inspiration, ruling out(moving away) by the choice(selection) of subject and mode of treatment(processing) of habitual Roman models.
