We invite you to participate in the visit of Saint-Joseph school in Abbaretz (44), renovated over the 2025-2026 school year.
The project aimed to revive the school, which is aging and has become uncomfortable for both students and the teaching team. All of this in accordance with the financial envelope allocated to the project by the OGEC.
The project involved a thermal component (insulation of all the walls and ceilings of the school) and an aesthetic component (refreshment of all the paintings and flooring, wall and ceiling coverings).
Project management and project owner have developed this project with great ecological and environmental attention, which resulted in: the implementation of bio-sourced insulation materials (hemp-linen-cotton wool; cellulose wadding; compressed straw panels), and the production of raw earth plasters on the straw panels. Also, in a logic of sobriety, as many existing elements have been preserved and reused as they are (lighting fixtures, electrical and plumbing equipment, radiators, ceiling tiles...).
The "new" Saint-Joseph school thus presents a new face, more comfortable for its users. Raw clay brings its very special atmosphere, enveloping in winter and refreshing in summer.
A stimulating learning ground for today’s and tomorrow’s students.
