"Local objective: Resource wood and constructive systems" the latest of the collection "In the course of The wood" is, initiated by CAUE of Isère and Créabois Isère 10 years ago.
At a time when fossil resources become scarce, social impacts of the exploitation(operation) of cheap workforce accrue in industrial pollutions and in exponential effects of transport on our environment, common sense encourages us to re-interest us in the potential of our local resources.
The material wood, naturally renewable and particularly full of Region Rhône-Alpes (2nd forest region of France), partly eclipsed by the novelty of the steel and of the ferroconcrete, in the made XIXth and XXth century the object, since a few decades, by a considerable(significant) infatuation.
This material, in the positive energy balance when it is local, benefits from technological advances(overhangs) and from specific know-how which raises to the level it of central material of the construction of the XXIth century. Living and natural, complex material, he(it) answers, in obvious fact, in number of criteria which it is henceforth necessary us to take into account to reach(affect) high performances building, that they are architectural, technical or environmental.
Naturally talented to gather with other materials in complementary(additional) performances, such as concrete or steel, wood, which puts itself in work in a «dry technology», is the privileged material of the prefabrication, alloying environmental high performance and constructive precision.
These qualities result from permanent researches(searches) for the professionals of all channel(chain) of the wood industry, but also from designers, engineering consulting firms and for the researchers who discover every day the promising potential of the cellulose.
Exemplary realisations increase. They translate a new approach of construction in its report(relationship) in environment, but are also the culmination of a teamwork which shares the same requirement and culture of quality.
So that this «architectural and constructive culture wood» increases and optimises its efficiency, we wished to present and to analyse 11 from Rhône-Alpes realisations, on various programmes remarkable for their constructive intelligence.
