The castle of Châtenois was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War, but a double enclosure, called 'fortified cemetery', still houses an entire district of the city, with an area of more than one hectare, which included the parish church, the episcopal castle, noble residences and a beguinage. The enclosure has been under restoration since 2001.
