Seit 150 Jahren wussten die örtlichen Historiker von der Existenz einer Burg auf den Höhen von Illfurth. Archäologische Untersuchungen haben gezeigt, dass Küppelé eigentlich eine befestigte Motte war, die zu Beginn des 11. Jahrhunderts besetzt wurde, was es zu einem der ältesten bis heute entdeckten Kastellen im Elsass macht.

For 150 years, local historians knew of the existence of a castle on the heights of Illfurth. Archaeological research has just shown that the Küppelé was in fact a fortified mound which was occupied at the beginning of the 11th century, making it one of the oldest castrum in Alsace discovered to date.

Per 150 anni, gli storici locali conoscevano l'esistenza di un castello sulle alture di Illfurth. Le ricerche archeologiche hanno dimostrato che il Küppelé era in realtà una motte fortificata, occupata all'inizio dell'XI secolo, il che lo rende uno dei più antichi castrum dell'Alsazia scoperti fino ad oggi.

Depuis 150 ans, les historiens locaux connaissaient l’existence d’un château fort sur les hauteurs d’Illfurth. Des recherches archéologiques viennent de démontrer que le Küppelé était en fait une motte fortifiée qui a été occupée au début du XIe siècle, ce qui en fait l’un des castrum les plus anciens d’Alsace découverts à ce jour.

Desde hace 150 años, los historiadores locales conocían la existencia de un castillo fuerte en las alturas de Illfurth. Las investigaciones arqueológicas acaban de demostrar que el Küppelé era en realidad una mota fortificada que fue ocupada a principios del siglo XI, lo que lo convierte en uno de los castrum más antiguos de Alsacia descubiertos hasta la fecha.
