Unique(Only) Site in France, where was fired the first cannon at the dawn of June 6th, 1944\. The battery(drum kit) of coastal artillery of Crisbecq was built by the organisation Todt from 1942\. With her(its) 21-centimetre artillery, she covers the sector between Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue and the Point(Headland) of Hoc, what makes of her one of the most powerful of the Atlantic Wall. Commanded(Ordered) by the lieutenant Walter Ohmsen, the men(people) of this battery(drum kit) of Navy brought into conflict a resistance persisted to the American soldiers of the 4th infantry division unloaded(landed) in Utah Beach on June 6th, 1944 in morning. These fights entrainèrent very heavy losses on both sides. 406 defenders of the battery(drum kit), only 78 managed to break encircling and to join the lines on June 12th, while leaving on the spot 21 wounded persons and numerous American prisoners. Penetrate into the extraordinary atmosphere of this four hectare battery(drum kit) by visiting 21 blockhouse entirely re-equipped with German material(equipment) of origin, the whole was connected(bound) by a kilometre of trenches.
