Take advantage of these days to visit the island Tatihou. Board on board of the amphibian vehicle and come walk on a small 28 hectare island. Here, the natural heritage is protected. Several natural circles mix and represent the rich housing environments of a fauna(crowd) and of a flora. Three thematic gardens suggest to make discoveries and in journey: The garden of acclimatisation, the botanical gardens and the maritime garden. The local flora of seaside is next(goes alongside) that of much more distant lands.
The history(story) of the island is read in the fort where many military constructions were built for the XVIIth century up to the Wall of l' Atlantic. The tower Vauban built in 1694 further to the battle of Hougue is registered on the list of the world heritage of the humanity by the UNESCO today. On the island Tatihou, there is also an intramural part(party) which corresponds to an old(former) place of about forty. Further to the epidemic of plague declared in Marseilles in 1721, a lazaret has foctionné on the island from 1722 till 1860.

From the Vauban fortifications to the Atlantic Wall, Tatihou has kept marks of the past. The lives of the men who stayed here can be read through landscapes and buildings. By the sea or in the middle of oyster beds at low tide, the amphibious boat takes you to the island from April to November. Tatihou is a concentrate of the maritime world. Its doors are open, enter by the one of your choice!
