A few kilometers from the landing beaches and the Bayeux Tapestry, the medieval castle of Creully is one of the most important in Calvados after those of Caen and Falaise. Its atypical architecture testifies to the multiple transformations it underwent from the 12th to the 19th century. Its fortress-like appearance, with the moats, ramparts and machicolations, strongly contrasts with the Renaissance turret of the facade. The stables as well as the exceptional Romanesque room recall the presence of the great barons who succeeded in Creully for several centuries.
