In 1934, the Russian mission, founded by Russian Catholic immigrants, moved into the former workshop of painter François Gérard, transformed into a Byzantine chapel.
Its iconostasis and the fresco of the sanctuary (communion of the apostles in the body and blood of Christ) were made by the Jesuit father Egon Sendler, icon painter and art historian recognized worldwide, founder of workshops icons in Meudon and Versailles. The iconostasis includes some ancient icons, typically Slavic.
