From Lied to Rock
Classical and popular music: Schubert, Cavanna and Ligeti
Schubert composed more than 600 Lieder mixing romantic quest, solitude, memories, happiness and travel, oscillating between popular and romantic inspiration. Bernard Cavanna offers an original transcription with accordion, reviving the imaginary popular origin of the Volkslied. This choice, enriched with strings, creates a refined and varied sound palette. The accordion, which appeared shortly after Schubert’s death, finds a central place here. The program also includes the piece Hungarian Rock of Ligeti, brilliantly transcribed for accordion by Rémi Briffault.
