The exhibition «Van Gogh, Les Derniers voyages» at the Château d'Auvers takes the form of a digital journey presenting the works of the painter in very high definition, accompanied by original works of artists from his entourage, having worked in the same places, and at the same time.
Museum-quality facsimiles of major paintings by Vincent van Gogh, the «Museum Editions» offered by the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, complete this proposal.
For the first time, Vincent van Gogh’s last travels are presented as an ultimate exploration and a return to the roots of man and artist.
The visitor then travels to France at the same time as the painter, from the Parisian years at his brother Theo to his last stay in Auvers-sur-Oise, via Arles and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. He enters both his intimacy and his creative process.
The exhibition presents successively the different material and human environments of the painter during his last four years.

In the heart of the village, the Château d'Auvers, owned by the Département of Val d'Oise, is a unique place, combining heritage and Impressionist experience in an unspoilt landscape. The Château d'Auvers was built in 1635 for Zanobi Lioni, a wealthy Italian financier at the court of Marie de Médicis, in the style of Italian Renaissance villas. He had a shell mosaic nymphaeum built, inspired by Antiquity and one of the few surviving examples in France today. In 1662, the estate was sold to Jean de Lery, who transformed the building into a French château, and then to the Prince of Conti in 1765. Purchased by the Département du Val d'Oise in 1987, the château has been on the supplementary list of historic monuments since 1997.
of historic monuments.

Since 7 October 2023, under the aegis of the Val d'Oise department, which has two sites in its territory that are closely linked to the memory of the artist - the Château d'Auvers and the Maison du docteur Gachet - the exhibition Van Gogh, les derniers voyages has been on show in the Château d'Auvers, which has been completely redesigned for the occasion.
