Designed around the evocation of the Christmas Festival, this museum presents the most beautiful collection of Neapolitan cribs of the eighteenth century preserved in France.
The composition is traditional: around the Holy Family a multitude of small characters representing the Neapolitan society, among which the sumptuously dressed Magi and their procession in exotic colors advance. Other cribs in terracotta and spun glass of Nevers, children Jesus in wax, paintings of Nativity including the famous Holy Family at the staircase of the workshop of Poussin, complete this collection.

The Museum of the Day-nursery(Crib) is an appendix of the art museum and of History(Story). The fund(collection) of the museum, most unusual in France, is mainly established(constituted) of a rich particular(special) collection of old(former) day-nurseries(cribs) acquired in 1976 by the City of Chaumont, of deposits(warehouses) of the State and of acquisitions realised later. So get involved, in accordance with baroque spirit, modest contemporary characters and luxuriously dressed exotic characters. The museum also keeps(preserves) French day-nurseries(cribs) to the small glassy characters spun by Nevers (XVIIIth-XIXth centuries) and babies Jesus of wax (XVIITH - XIXTH centuries).
