The great lock of Réchicourt-le-Château is a remarkable work of art of the canal of the Marne au Rhin inaugurated in 1965\. With its waterfall ranging from 15.45 m to 16.18 m, it is considered to be the highest Freycinet lock in France. This massive concrete structure was built to replace a succession of 6 locks, and allows the passage of boats in 30 minutes against 6 hours before.
An exceptional natural territory: in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine, a Natura 2000 area and Biosphere Reserve recognized as World Heritage by Unesco, the lock of Réchicourt-le-Château is nestled in the center of an exceptional natural territory.
Various facilities (picnic area, barbecue, petanque, book box, etc.) offer visitors a moment of relaxation in a bucolic setting between water and nature, punctuated by impressive boat passages in the lock.
The site also offers easy access to the arboretum of Réchicourt-le-Château and the 5-kilometer interpretive trail «Les reflets du canal» which
